A reflection from Still Human After All, the first session of NeuroVibes' Human Optimisation Series
On 28 August 2026, NeuroVibes brought a full room together of working professionals across industries to ask an uncomfortable question: as Artificial Intelligence reshapes work, what remains ours?
Five key takeaways
The evening's discussion revealed a balanced perspective of AI's benefits and costs, leading to insightful and grounded ideas of how we can continue to thrive in the age of AI.
AI is double-edged, and the sharper edge is hidden. The benefits announce themselves. The costs arrive disguised as efficiency.
Displacement is not the story. Distance is. Locally, only 6.2% of firms reported reduced headcount after adopting AI, while 18.9% redesigned roles instead.
High tech demands high touch. AI may match the diagnosis, but not the nurse who sits with the patient.
Delegate the output, own the outcome. If it can be tested, AI will dominate it. Deciding what the outcome should be remains ours.
The lever is closer than the policy. Reform how we examine, take personal ownership, and treat lifelong learning as the default rather than the remedy.
